Team Borneo Update

Cricket legend Mark Ramprakash champions Sky Sports Living for Sport

The PE Department were invited to join in a masterclass session as part of the Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports Living For Sport program on Thursday 24th June. This was led by former England cricket international Mark Ramprakash led a cricket masterclass at the Brit Oval with ten pupils from our very own CBSC.

One of the first projects for Team Sutton was to come up with a logo. Knowing what a wealth of talent there is in Sutton's schools we ran a 'Design a Logo' competition for all the schools in the Borough to create a logo that would be used to represent Team Sutton.
Commencement of A2 Study for Year 12 – Monday 14th June

The CBSC Sports Relief week was a fantastic week raising approximately £1700. The students undertook a CBSC Sport Relief mile, a 500m row, a continuous 5-a-side football game and some even ran to school.

Car Boot Sale

On Saturday 27th February Student Council reps and Borneo boys held a Car boot sale to raise money to send our students on the Borneo Expedition in June.

Sixth Form Assessment Day – Wed 03 March 2010

The second assessment day of the academic year will take place on Wednesday 3rd March. In most subjects you will be given a 1 hour assessment. Your teachers should talk to you about what that will be involved. Your grades will be collected and be part of your end of team report which will be issued at Easter.

On Monday 12th October CBSC hosted a Y4 Aussie Rules tournament for 145 pupils from our local primary schools. The event was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all staff, students and parents.

Year 11 boys started the year with a huge amount of success to celebrate. In August many of our boys were able to collect their results slips for early entry GCSE’s. 25 boys had achieved a grade C or above in English, and 35 had achieved a C or above in Maths.

Year 10 have been working through their Key Stage Four courses for half a term now and on November 16th current progress data will be finalised for every student in every subject. Parents and guardians will then receive an interim report home showing these current levels of progress at the end of term on December 16th.

Camps International – Borneo 2010

This year we have launched an exciting new project. In summer 2010, Carshalton Boys Sports College will be sending a whole team of students to Borneo. This will be a four week expedition and will include community work, wildlife conservation projects and an adventure element undertaking their PADI open water diving course.
Overseas Expeditions News – 2009 and 2010

This year 5 sixth form students were involved in the Fulcrum Challenge Overseas Expedition. For these challenges students have to fund raise the money required for the trip, and so develops their leadership, time management and personal skills. The students travel to the location where they are involved in building a community project such as primary school or village.

Challenge Days are a new initiative to allow flexibility within the year to offer organised trips, workshops and study sessions related to the curriculum across the school. Pastoral sessions are also being led. It has also allowed flexibility for departments to work together in cross curricular projects.
