ICT

ICT is taught as a discrete subject throughout the school. In Year 7 and 8 students have one hour a week in which they complete a variety of project-based activities where they learn, amongst other things, basic MS Office skills. In Year 9 students start a vocational ICT qualification called OCR Nationals.

The OCR Nationals course is 100% coursework and is taught throughout Years 10 and 11 for two hours a week. The course is at Level 2 which means that it is the same as grades A-C at GCSE level. In the sixth-form the course offered is an Applied ICT GCE; again this is a vocational qualification that concentrates on the use of computers to solve problems. The majority of the units are coursework-based activities.
