Mathematics

Mathematics is taught as a discrete subject throughout the school.

All students at Key Stages 3 and 4 have three hours of maths per week. They study a variety of learning objectives and projects based around the five key areas of maths: number, algebra, geometrical reasoning, statistics (including probability), and using and applying mathematical ideas.

Students follow a condensed Key Stage 3 curriculum in Years 7 and 8, with the two year groups combined and taught according to their level, rather than their age. Our GCSE course starts in Year 9, and we currently follow a modular syllabus which allows greater flexibility to enable your son to achieve his full potential.

At [Key Stage 5/A-level ] students have four hours of mathematics per week and follow the Edexcel syllabus, comprising of four core math units and two applied units.
