Thirty-four hopeful Year 13s - accompanied by Mr Black and Mr Howard - travelled to New Cross to enjoy a day of advice on university application from students and admissions staff.
They were treated to a number of excellent talks; though the outstanding (and interactive) talk on student finance by Mark Alger - an Education Liaison Officer at Kingston University - stood out for its clarity and the demystification of what can be a huge barrier to student engagement with higher education.
But more powerful than the invaluable information given during the day was the impact of the student ambassadors. They were from a number of universities in London, and from a very wide range of backgrounds and experiences of higher education. The afternoon question and answer session with them was incredibly useful as it showed our students that there are many ways of going to university, and many reasons for going.
Thanks are owed to Ms Ellis and the London South Aimhigher team - and our hosts at Goldsmiths - for making the day possible.
