Year 8

Year 8 follows the same curriculum as Year 7, delivered over the same two-week timetable.

Curriculum provision across the two-week timetable is English, Mathematics and Science (7 hours per fortnight each) and PE (5 hours). Pupils are taught a Modern Foreign Language, either Spanish or French (4 hours per fortnight), History and Geography (3 hours between them), Computer Studies (1 hour) and Personal Development (1 hour). Pupils also follow RE, Citizenship, Art and Music (2 hours between them). Additionally, pupils follow a half-termly carousel of six subjects — Construction, Engineering, Product Design, Food Technology, Performing Arts and Oracy — delivered as a block of 12 lessons before pupils rotate to the next subject. This is complemented by an after-school enrichment programme, including sports teams, chess club and Dungeons & Dragons.
